Professional Profiles

James A. Ferrin, CFP® - Jim Ferrin is President and chief investment strategist of Ferrin Capital Advisors, Inc., the firm he founded in 1993. Jim earned his BS degree in Finance from BYU in 1981. He became a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner in 1984. He holds Series 7, 63, 65 and 24 securities registrations and is licensed for life and health insurance in Utah and several other states.

Jim advises clients and helps them to effectively manage their investments and personal wealth. He recognizes that the world has changed significantly in recent years. He understands that our investment strategies too must be flexible to adapt to changes.   But, as he often notes, “what has not changed is that we all still need to preserve and grow our investment capital to meet our goals for personal security, retirement, education, or other ambitions.” Helping clients to navigate their way to financial independence is his driving business passion.

Jim currently serves as a Board Member of the Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce. He also served six years as a member of the Utah House of Representatives from 2001-2006. He is founder and President of Friends of Tim, a Utah charity that supports handicapped children and their families in Northern Mexico.

Jim and his wife Margo enjoy motorcycle touring and boating on Lake Powell. They make their home in Lindon, Utah with their five children.
